The summer is coming up soon so I thought I would have lots of spare time. I want to buy lots of books to read since I have finished all of my books that I have already (I only own 7 books). Do any of you recommend any books(Please make sure that they are NOT vampire stories)? Here are a few books that I have recently read:

Saving Juliet- Suzanne Selfors
Twilight Series- Stephenie Meyer
Vampire Academy- (forgot the name)
White Lilacs- Carolyn Meyer
So Far From The Bamboo Grove- Yoko Kawashima Watkins
There was another book it was the 2nd book to the one above.

I seriously recommend you try any of Jodi Picoult's.

I asked a similar question on here. I wondered if there were any books similar to Alice Sebolds the Lovely Bones and Jodi Picoult was my response.

I'm so glad the person recommended her to me....I have now read all of her novels.

Take a look on her website for full details for each title. But I recommend you start with Salem Falls and see how you go from there.

They often take place in America and are some sort of problem/crime that needs the help of a lawyer. They all end up in the courtroom but even if you don't understand the jargon, they are well worth the read and will keep you on your toes throughout.

Jodi's aim when writing novels is to keep you thinking about the characters and their problems well after you have finished the book. Although I have read them all I've only read them once, but I can easily relay each novel too you, many with great detail. You certainly get sucked in.

Her novels can be depressing so I often space them out between other light hearted books such as Alexandra Potter, which you can get through simply and quickly. Alexandra's novels include 'Becareful what you wish for' and 'Who's that girl'.

Hope I've helped and have fun with all the reading :)

I loved Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegaut. It was so out there, but so well-written and interesting that I fell in love with Vonnegaut. I'd also suggest Mother Night which was also written by him.

I would also recommend Mitch Albom. He's written three books that I've read. Tuesdays With Morrie, The Five People You Meet In Heaven and For One More Day. They kind of fall in place around a central theme, but I enjoyed them.

and I know you asked for no vampire stories, but I loved Hawkes Harbor by SE Hinton. Honestly, the book doesn't even focus on one of the characters being a vampire. It's there for the reader to see, butit has very little to do with the story and it's a really good one. I really hope you try this one. I read it in about a day and it was so good.

The Mortal Instruments- First one in the series is "City of Bones," then "City of Ash," and then "City of Glass." These are wonderful books. They are about people called Shadowhunters. The plots are EXCLLENT!!!!!!!

A Certain Slant of Light-This is a different book, but very good. It's a romance about these ghost that embody humans.
