it is basicaly Tuck Everlasting but with a few twists to make it so it is not the same used copied classic childrens story(i imagine this for more mature readers around the ages of 13+)
The main character and narrorator, Mercy, starts out the story in the prologue as she is learning to swim as a very young child with the handsome seventeen year old Gray. The main purpose of this prologue is to show how even as a young child Mercy believes that she loves Gray with all her heart and trusts her life with his as she is deathly afraid of water from a near death experience she had where she was separated from her family and Gray saved her. It is also to show that she is very intelligent for her age as she understands the fact that Gray does not age and will forever be seventeen. Mercy even as a child is a very sunny, bright, comedic girl who is stuborn and comforting to those she loves as she can see right through Gray. (it is later revealed that Gray is her ancestor from the early 1600s who was born with a special gene that annabels him to stop aging forever making him immortal. this special gene was not carried through the generations as he developed it first and never took a wife while his later mentioned younger sister created the line that would eventualy produce Mercy.)
when in the water she slips and falls in, almost drowning before Gray saves her but her screams where heard and others found her in Gray's arms, recognizing her to be the missing little girl of the highly respected Campbell family and take her from Gray and she is supposed to watch him be taken away on charges for kidnapping(later he'll explain to her that he escaped them as soon as she was out of sight.) that ends the prologue.
the first chapter is where she is stairing out the window as it rains and her mother comes in telling her to get ready as she must look like a proper lady for the visit of her childhood fiance(she no longer remembers Gray as she was so young-she is now eighteen) she runs away gets seriously hurt, cries herself unconcious and wakes later to find herself treated to in a clean change of clothes on a bed in a room with no windows and made completely out of black cold stone. Gray is heard argueing in another room with a female and she gets up to investigate, the female(Laura-Gray's only companion for the last thirteen years and best friend) sees her hissing then storms out of the room, Gray turns sees her thinking she remebers everythig and tries to hug her but she screams locking herself in the room to cry as she believes shes been taken and that he will hurt her.
there is much more but i think tht is enough info for now if u need more just say ill add addition info but after tht he starts building a new relationship with her, her slowly having dreams of when she was a child here but she disbelieves in them, her memory trying to make her remeber, Mercy soon comes to turns that she is in love with him and when her fiance-another branch of the towns most well known, highly respected and wealthy families-sends out a month long search party till thye find her rip her away from him and she fully recovers her memories from the experience and is taken back home, later learnign that Gray will be sentenced to death and she most save him while also trying to find a way to be with Gray forever(the age difference annoys her)
