I have read harry potter, inheritance cycle, his dark materials, the lord of the rings and I like them all. I don't want to read Twilight. Please recommend something.

Try the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett- mad funny. I like fantasy, like you, but I find traditional 'elves and swords' fantasy a bit childish. An author I've come across whom I couldn't get enough of is Robin Hobb. Honestly, she writes fantasy, but in a dazzling and beautiful way that's much more personal than just big battles with dragons. Her prose is stunning, and it's much more psychological- you really get into the character's mind. You really get a feel for the world and you really start to care about the characters and their families and fragile relationships. A word of warning- I'm a 16 year old guy and by the end of some of her books I had tears in my eyes like the overgrown baby I am. It's tragic and beautiful at the same time. Seriously, start with 'Shaman's Crossing', part of the Soldier Son trilogy. There is still magic etc in the story, but in a much more sophisticated and elegant way than Eragon and Harry Potter. Even if you loved them both, this will still appeal to you.

It's completely different from all that Twilight and teen vampire fantasy crap so many people seem to love.

try reading the Series of Unfortunate Events. It deals with unpleasant events, of course, but the writing is very much mysterious and classy; just try it to see if you like it.

Also, The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stuart. So far as I range in my knowledge, I only know he has currently two of them written. Or Once, and Then, about a boy called Felix and a girl called Zelda and what it was like for them when Hitler ruled. The writer had written Two Weeks With The Queen. Otherwise, if you're a girl, you can try reading The Princess Diaries. Or Anne of Green Gables, it's a sort of old-fashioned Classics.

Also, the Warriors about cat tribes, if you're really into tribes and cats i guess. :D or The Narnia Chronicles! Very catchy!

Or if it doesn't have to, just read a book. You don't always need series.

The CHERUB (about a Spy group but where the spy's are 12-17 because criminals never suspect kids) , The Ranger Apprentice (someone who becomes a master of bow and arrow, The Warriors (A fictional book about a cat tribe) and Star wars the force unleashed book (though it was made in south Australia where I live so I'm not sure about America

A Series of Unfortunate Events, they are awesome. Weird at times, but awesome. Lemony Snicket writes in a really unique fashion, and sometimes the things he says are hilarious. I'm telling you, just read a couple of them. You'll thank me. There are thirteen books, which may seem like a lot, but they are addicting and easy to read. They're also short, so if you read one and decide you don't like it you won't have wasted any time.

Cherub is Amazing -if you've ever read Alex Rider, you'll wonder how it ever matched up! my fave!

I would say twilight (don't be biased, it means you miss out on so much, just because of Pride -you don't have to tell anyone you've read it!)

You could try the Half Men of O, by Maurice Gee (the first in a series)

or try some old favourites, like Trixie Belden, or Enid Blyton

John Marsden is also very good (Tomorrow when the War began)

Eva Ibbotson is my favourite author, if you've never heard of her -she would be my first pick -The Star Of Kazan
