My English class is having a contest (tomorrow) and the person with the BEST cover for their Pride and Prejudice book gets a bunch of extra credit!! I REALLY NEED IT!! But... I don't know what I should do for my cover!!!!
I tried drawing the wallpaper of the actors from the 2005 movie... but it turned out HORRIBLY lol... so something that doesn't require artistic skill...??? thanks!!!

Can you do shadow profiles? You shine a light on someones profile as they stand near the wall. Behind them, on the wall, you have a piece of paper taped up where you can trace their profile. I'd do shadow profiles of a guy and girl, shrink them so they're facing each other on your book cover and leave them as silhouettes- all in black. Then, I'd take favorite or famous lines from the book (the first line is a famous one, "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a man..." and copy them either in rows or sporadically all over the book in my fanciest handwriting, or if I couldn't write decently, I'd use some nice fonts in different colors and paste them or even run them through the printer after or before my profiles were on there. Since you are working with blacks and whites, you could do the entire background of your book any color you wanted, as long as the writing was dark enough to show up.

I was also thinking if you can't draw the profiles, you could probably find some online as graphics that you could use. at Yahoo Image search if you look up head profile sihouette, it gives you some nice options. Good luck!

1) If you can use a computer program like microsoft paint..find a picture of both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy's face--full frontal shot. Split the faces in half and combine them so that one half of the face is Elizabeth's and the other is Mr. Darcy's. This foreshadows the duality between them in the story and also symbolizes that one's pride is the same as/influences the others prejudice.

2) Or, you know how you see puzzle images that show a sketch of an old woman but if you flip it upside down the image is then of a princess? You can try doing something like that as well. Upright, would be an image of Elizabeth's face but if you flipped it, it was Mr. Darcy.

Elizabeth's hair could be Darcy's shoulders and vice versa, etc.

that's quite a good idea @the first commenter

I would do Elizabeth and Mr Dacy silhouette cameos facing each other, then in the background maybe a house (your interpretation of pemberly) in the distance behind them, and around the edge of the cover vines and blooming flowers to represent the gardens and such.
