Question:
Don't you think that books are so antiquated?

The new medium is movies, TV shows and computer games.

Why waste an hour or whatever to read something that you could see in 5 seconds in a movie?

OK, don't read. More books for me!

Computer games are stupid. Seriously. If you want to go shoot stuff, join the Army already.

Films with CGI are expensive to make. It costs nothing to write a scene that takes place in space.

Maybe I want an experience to last a little longer than five seconds, because maybe I'm not an ADD-addled teenager with the attention span of a butterfly.

As for TV shows, once a network kills something it's over. Good luck convincing all the actors to stick around and bring the story to a conclusion just to make you happy. Once again, it costs nothing to keep writing a story.

I enjoy a good story in any medium.

The 'new' medium is movies?

*headdesk*

In whose world is a medium invented in the 1800s the 'new' medium?

If you don't like books, there's no need to read them. Nobody's forcing you. But you can't possibly be stupid enough to think that just because you don't like books much, nobody else would/can/should like them either. Some people prefer movies. Some people prefer books. It's really no big deal. Why would you even care enough how other people entertain themselves to bother to ask this question?

EDIT:

Interestingly, your previous question was asking advice on how to write stories. Could you possibly just be a little bitter towards books because you've realised you're not really capable of writing one? It seems a little odd to dislike books but also be keen to write one of your own.

As I said when I answered the previous question - you could always try writing screenplays instead, which would presumably interest you a lot more if you're more of movie-centric person.

Books aren't antiquated at all - they've been around for hundreds of years and will still be here long into the future.

A movie can never really capture the feel of a good book. Sure, you can get an idea of the story, but it's usually a watered-down version of the original book.

Everything started from the books. Last time I checked, movies came from books. Not the other way around. Besides, watching to many moveis and sitting at your PS to long shows lack o imagination. People like me (who play no video games and have no TV) are usually smarter and morer creative then people who go with the new norm.

Non-readers have lack of imagination. I much prefer the visions in my head. How often do you see things like "Oh, that actor won't make a good Mr. Darcy" or "That scene just didn't play out the way it did in the book"? Either way, they're all stories, and without the written word, none of them would exist. You need scripts, so somebody is reading something!

No, I don't thinks books are antiquated. I love my games console, watch movies and enjoy using my computer, but I have plenty of books around the house and prefer to read print and relax at certain times. There is room for it all.

I concur with everyone else. Books are not antiquated. You are an idiot. Books inspire, they make you stretch your imagination, learn new vocabulary, ect.

You just want everything now and you have no imagination. You tell others to not be judgmental about the medium, but you are the one doing that.

*face palm* Reading enriches your understanding of things multimedia cannot possibly convey. Plus, it makes your brain sharper. Reading is underrated by a lot of people, which is unfortunate.
