think that what they are reading is good! I do think that writers are only those who really write books able to change the curse of humanity...
If someone could tell me what is good in terror, vampires, demons, magical....and convince me proving it I give the maximum points possible!
Why writers like Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Julio Cortazar, Victor Hugo, Goethe and many othes are never in the list of best sellers nowadays?
If people are reading more...I congrat the very cleaver person who is rich now and laughting at everyone who has bought their books... While ppl get stupid someone get richier everyday.

Poor mankind!

Not every book can "change the course of humanity". And it shouldn't be that way, anyway. If all the books were like "100 years of solitude" or "War and peace" and similar, we would never be able to fully appreciate them. Only comparing to the cheap books of bad quality, we can see the difference.

Reading is good. I know, I haven't said anything new with this statement, but what I want to say is that reading all kinds of books, great, confirmed, classics or cheap thrillers, mysteries or romance novels enriches us, makes us see the "wider picture", teaches us critical thinking and how to distinguish quality from pulp fiction. The more you read, the more you investigate, the more you will learn.

Don't be too harsh on the books about mysteries: some of those are considered classics in literature history ("Dracula", "Frankenstein", "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde", "Phantom of the Opera", ghost stories of Henry James). "Harry Potter" is not that bad either, although it is a bestseller. Books by J. R. R. Tolkien as well.

So, my suggestion is to read, read a lot and not to have prejudices about any book or author. Only the good ones will pass the test of time, just as the books you mentioned have.

So in other words we should all read what you read.

Ohh! Then we can also completely destroy the english language as you have just done so brilliantly.

People may read whatever they want. If a book clearly brings enjoyment to people, the author deserves the money.

Ok...try reading House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski or Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen or Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon...they fit your description

Wow, your spelling and grammar are absolutely terrible.

As to your question, not everyone reads "great novels"... ... most people are just looking for something to entertain them for a little while... and not everyone is smart enough to know what makes a great novel because they haven't read anything but the crap their friends are reading... You can't know light if you're forever in darkness...

From the way you write, I doubt you have ever read a book in your life, let alone by anyone you mention.
