I'm doing a book report on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and one of the questions we have to answer is, "Name a minor character that had major impact in your book and give reasons for your choice." I want to do either Dobby or Malfoy, because they both had major effect but neither were in the book too much.

Which one do you guys think is best? Or is there another character you think would fit?

Thanks. :)

Dobby:

-Stopped Harry and Ron going through the wall therefore they had to go in the car

-Cursed the bludger therefore Harry was hurt and all his bones were removed (Lockhart)

Malfoy:

-Gave Ginny the dairy, therefore the Chamber Of Secrets was opened.

I think Malfoy, because the story wouldn't be able without him, plus he is in less than Dobby. Moreover, he isn't the main character in his first scene, making him less notcied possibly, so even less in the book.

Dobby because he saves Harry and the Gang in the seventh book and also helps Harry out throughout the series. Sure Lucius is annoying and bad, but really, Dobby has the biggest impact on the book.

Gilert Grinalwald...someone I've always been very interested in...his story connects with Dumbledore, and raises a lot of qustion on Dumbledore's character...which leads into the subplot of The Deathly Hallows and their slogan of 'For The Greater Good'!

Narcissa Malfoy: Her one lie saved Harry's life, her one lie...one word saved the Malfoys from spending a life sentence in Azkaban, and she single-handedly bought about the downfall of Voldemort...I like how the Malfoys change their allegiance after seeing the horrors being done to them...it makes them much more human!

But off the choice you gave, i would have to say Lucius Malfoy. As amazing as Dobby is....I still pick Lucius. I find him to be a very weak man. He put on his tough exterior, but in the end the safety of his family matter more to him than the fight for blood-purity! In the end he is not truly a death-eater, because he cannot sacrifice his family for Voldemort's cause. Even though he enjoys the glory and the power, he can only be evil, as long as his family is safe and drops all pretext when he finds out that Draco is in the castle, and begs Voldemort if he could go look for him!

I would go with malfoy. Why? Because everyone else would go with Dobby:) Besides I agree with someone before me who said that Malfoy was in it less so I think he would be the best choice! I have nothing against dobby! As a matter of fact I love him, but to be different I would go with Malfoy.

Probably Dobby for the enjoyment side but as for how much you can write about him I would probably say there is more to write about Lucius Malfoy... so they are sort of same-ish unless you can find anything that over flows the analogy.

I would do Dobby as enjoyment is more important if you're not familiar with writing about things.

Probably Dobby, because he saved Harry's life and tried to keep him from going to Hogwarts and he is in the series after that too :) I love Dobby lol

I know!!! I could swear I hear him say "AVADA ---" before Dobby steps in and says "You shall not harm Harry Potter!" I didn't think it was a hissing sound, and it wasn't in the book either. Whew! If Dobby hadn't stepped in ... Harry Potter WOUNDN'T be there to save the day all the time like he said a while before ... Great Question!
