Would you look? Harry Potter Hacked Ending?

I know I just posted a question yesterday that in some way lamented the many many many postings of Harry Potter related questions. But my curiosity just got the better of me.

The news has been filled with the story of the Hacker who claimed to Hack into Bloomsbury and get the manuscript for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He's posted it online in an attempt to take away the pleasure of reading the book when it comes out because he believes Harry Potter to be evil.

Regaurdless of his beliefs, or if you think it's the real deal, will you or have you peaked? Are you curious enough to risk spoiling the book if it is the real thing or would you rather not see it even if it's completely made up? If you have I don't want you to post anything said on there here, please give everyone the courtesy they deserve and don't spoil anything. I just want to know if you would look or have looked. A simple yes i will, no I won't, or I have looked with be sufficiant.

First, I doubt it is real. That would be a huge story, like the time that a few copies of an earlier book (OotP, IIRC) got sent out early. It isn't on CNN, Reuters, nor BBC. It's a fake.



To answer your question, no, I wouldn't read it, and anyone who'd try to tell me better have pinned back their ears, to save me the trouble*

I'm not sure if it's the real deal or not, but there's no way I'm going to peak. I've waited this long...The book will be in my hands in one month anyway. It'd be totally cheating AND the whole point (for me, I know others feel differently) is how the characters reached the end. "The journey is more important than the destination" and all that jazz. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good spoiler about a tv show, but spoiling a small part is a whole lot different than wrecking the entire story arch.



JK herself said on her website how thrilled she is with sites like the Leaky Cauldron taking a stance on spoilers (as in don't do it). I'm all for it. All I need to know is where to show up on July 21st so I can stay up until 5 am reading...

I would never spoil the ending of the book. The whole point is to read through the entire thing, have the suspense before you get the ending. Plus, I couldn't bear looking at the story for free when JK Rowling worked so hard to write it. It just wouldn't be right and it would be letting that moron who hacked in (if it was real) win.

I will not read it!!! No way!!! Even if it is real I wouldn't want to do the to JK!!! She has worked so hard on these books. Can you imagine spending years of your life on a project just for some *** to go and post stuff like this ... real or not .. and ruin it. Sure she has made a lot of money and there is tons of royalties of the products and movies and everything. But doesn't she deserve it??? She is the one who came up with this ingenious idea and then she spent ALOT of time and careful thought to make it all happen. I mean isn't that what everyone wants? To work hard and see all your dreams come true. What right does this guy have to ruin that for her???? So... I will wait...although I am getting rather impatient!! LOL!

I'm a journalist and we wanted to write about the fact that this hacker claims to know the ending - not necessarily about the ending itself. I asked on ecolleague to write the article and another to proof-read it (which would normaly have been my job) because I didn't want to spoil it for me. I'm currently re-reading all the old HP books so I can then make a smooth transition to the final one.

I just think the guy is some religious nut that wants people to stop reading Harry Potter, and he made it all up.

No, I wouldn't. For me, it just spoils the reading experience for me. Even if I don't like a book, I would just finish reading it to find out what happens in the end. I will wait some more.

Something about Voldemort killing Hermione who's trying to protect Ron. Snape kills Hagrid? I guess, but why? And then Harry saves the day.

I did it. I looked, I read, and I am not sorry. I might be sorry that I am not sorry though (!?!)

I always read the last chapter of a book while I am reading it. I NEED to know. I know I am pathetic.. . .my head is hung in shame. . . .it might all be BS though.

I would love to know, but my desire to read the book and be surprised will eventually overcome my greed to know the ending first, so I guess I won't know!!! :(
