The masonic lodge in Norway has said that they expelled him for the murders. He also claims to have formed a group called the "Knight's Templar". Was he really a freemason?

He was a member. He was expelled by edict of the Grand Master of Norway because the acts he is accused of are completely incompatible with what Freemasonry stands for.
He was never a Knight Templar - Masonic or otherwise.

If they expelled him, isn't it logical that he was a member before they expelled him?
And he has changed his statements of the "Knights Templar" several times now. Most likely just something he has constructed in his own mind. He probably picked the name because of the associations to fighting Muslims. And he himself stated that he originally joined the Masons because he thought them a right-wing Christian organization.

He was indeed a freemason. In his manifest, he put a picture of himself in a freemasonic ceremonial outfit (I don't know why... probably because he's a lunatic), and he was kicked out of the lodge as soon as they discovered the heineous acts.

The evidence says that he was a Freemason
