And Sauron was a servant of Morgorth the greatest of the Ainur, does that mean Sauron was one of the Ainur created directly by Eru ilúvatar?

And if he was, then I know Morgorth was destroyed (although not killed given the immortality of the Ainur) by the other Ainur known as the Valar, who captured him in the Siege of Utumno and brought him before Manwë his brother to be judged and await his fate, but why was Sauron destroyed? Given he was destroyed by Gandalf who wasn't an Ainur but a Maiar and one of the five Istari? Or was he an Ainur? And if so, why didn't he come to shape the world alongside the other Ainur after creation by Eru?

No. Sauron was a Maia - one of the lesser beings created by Iluvatar. Second-class Ainur, if you like.

Other prominent Maia included Galdalf, Saruman and Bombadil.

Souron was a Miaiar of Aule ( I don't know if that is spelled right, the guy who made the dwarves) and was corrupted by Morgoth. He wasn't destoryed by Gandalf, in so far as he did not cease to exist. He was just rendered so powerless as to be insubstantial. I believe the silmarillion states that Souron eventually joins morgoth in the void. ( Though it could have been metaphorical>)

You need to study the Silmarillion again my friend. This is heavy stuff for your average LOTR fan. I have a copy nxt to me but I don't have the time to clarify things

Good luck
