Half-blood Prince is definitely my favorite. I love all the back story on Voldemort, I love how everything is just laid out and I like how the book has so many signs of them acting their age - they have normal feelings that 16 year olds have, with or without impending doom on their heads.

My least favorite is actually Prisoner of Azkaban, which most people love the most. I felt that it was slow moving and awkward compared to the rest. I didn't see much showing that they were becoming growing teenagers, and I don't think very much plot happened.

Of course, I love all the books. I don't have PoA, it's just my least favorite out of all of them.

My favorite to least favorite order would go like this: 6-7-5-4-2-1-3

My least favorite is the first one. I remember thinking that if the second book is similar to the first book then I need not read further into this series. "The Chamber of Secrets" roped me in, and I devoured the rest of the series. I can't choose which one I like the best. It's been quite a while since I read them. The last one was fun. The fifth one was also fun as the students began losing their privileges, and I loved to hate Prof. Umbridge. Books 2-7 were engaging. I don't have one particular favorite.

My only complaint about the series is:

I remember reading the books and frequently commenting to my wife that the plots take quite a while for the kids to actually arrive at Hogwarts. Sometimes there was way too much yadda-yadda before Harry finally arrived at school each year.

I like the light and comical writing style of "Philosopher's stone", but I guess "Deathly Hallows" would be my fave bcos I like the ending and the romance, especially the chapters "The Silver Doe" and "The Prince's Tale", very touching... I liked "Order of the Phoenix" least bcos I think it was too looong and kinda boring... and Sirius's death was really sad. Also I didn't like Cho Chang, though the book introduced Luna Lovegood, my fave character :)))

But still I <3 all the books!!!

I love all of them, but I have to say Half-Blood Prince is my favorite because of all the "life in a war" thingies.

My least favorite is Chamber of Secrets, Harry is just too immature in here and its too short.

My favorite by far is most people's least favorite, Order of the Phoenix. It was with this book that things turned dark and much more mature, though you can definitely argue Goblet of Fire marked the shift, Order of the Phoenix took it and ran.

My least favorites are tied, Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets. I was uncertain after reading the first two if I would continue further. I'd convinced myself that while fun, short reads, there wasn't much substance to the Harry Potter novels.

Fave: Prisoner of Azkaban-> Sirius and Remus are introduced and Hermione punches Malfoy!!!!

Least Fave: Deathly Hallows-> too damn long, didn't finish it because it lagged on.

i like the second one.

it's just so great... after the kid got introduced and before the drama got to serialized. plus it's just a great storyline and good conflict symbols. plus it just a perfect example of fantasy that's not over the top.
