How do I know if my edition of Charlie St. Cloud is a movie tie-in?

I absolutly HATE movie tie-in's, they absolutly ruin the whole story. I bought a copy of Charlie St. Cloud at wal-mart last night and I don't know if it's the movie tie-in or not. It has a cover from the movie and at the top left it says "Now A Major Motion Picture" and then it says
Charlie St. Cloud
New York Times Best Selling Author
Ben Sherwood
A Novel
Originally Published As The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud

According to the last sentence, I'm predicting that it's the same as the original version? I really hope so, but I'd like to make sure. I opened to the Copyright page or whatever you call it and it says "2010 Bantam Books Trade Paperback Movie Tie-In- Edition
Originally Published As The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud"

Either they actually tied in parts from the movie to my edition of the book, or it's just the cover in which is a picture of Zac Efron and a scene from the movie at the bottom. I'm really picky about things, so I'd just like opinions and facts to make sure.

A movie tie-in is the original book but with a cover that depicts a still from the film. It is still the original published book, it just has a different cover.

If the book was different from the original (for instance the most recent Alice in Wonderland film) it would say "adapted from" on the cover and give the screenwriters name as well as the writer of the original book.

Okay I have the same question!!! I want to read the real book not the movie version but if I get the death and life of charlie st. cloud it has only 288 pages where as Charlie St. Cloud has 320. So what does Charlie St. Cloud have in it that the other one doesn't???

Movie tie-ins are usually the original book. It should only be the cover that's different - it probably has a still from the movie.
