Hi, I am a stay at home mom of 5. My husband is in the military and we just moved to Fort Riley, Kansas. We had to get a house about 15 miles out of town. I don't know anyone and I am VERY lonley and board. I was wondering if anyone could tell me some great authors that I could just order online. I love Sidney Sheldon, but have all of his books, loved Harry Potter and have begun to like some romance novels. The ones based a long long time ago, but usually don't read them so I don't know any good ones. Just some ideas and input would be great. Thanks.

The Victorian Era

by Ilana Miller

The Victorian era is generally agreed to stretch through the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). It was a tremendously exciting period when many artistic styles, literary schools, as well as, social, political and religious movements flourished. It was a time of prosperity, broad imperial expansion, and great political reform. It was also a time, which today we associate with "prudishness" and "repression

Diana Gabaldon - has a series of 6 (so far) books that are historical adventure, love, sex, romance and time travel. It starts with "Outlander". I have read her books about a doz times each and I always go back to them when I don't have anything to read. I guarantee that you will fall in love with the main characters - Claire & Jamie Fraser after the first 60 - 75 pages or I will eat my hat. Stock up on food, clean the house, send the kids away and tell the s/o to fend for himself because once you start reading them, you won't come up for air. For something completely different, try Janet Evanovich - the Stephanie Plum series - she has 13 books (so far) - the first is called "One for the Money". They are about a female bounty hunter and are a hilarious read. Then of course, there is Stephen King - the master of horror. Start with his early works like Carrie, or start with Misery. He has a fantasty series called "The Dark Tower" (5 books) and you won't be able to put them down. I recently read "Odd Thomas" by Dean Koontz and it was excellent. I don't like his work much - but "Odd Thomas" was great. For mainstream romance - stay away from Danielle Steele unless you want to read the same book over and over again with a different character name. (sorry - Danielle Steele lovers). Hope this helps. You can find all of these books in the library.

Don Quixote, an superb guy in this paper the author seems on the character in Miguel De Cervantes' admired e book "Don Quixote". He examines how the correct character Don Quixote will become immersed in a myth international with the intention to flee his undemanding and mundane life as that of an impoverished and undemanding bigger classification gentleman. the author portrays how Don Quixote will become a defender of distinctive function and righter of wrongs as he trades actuality for journey interior the international of his mind's eye and isn't any longer an ageing gentleman residing a quiet life. In end, the author factors out that Don Quixote replaced into stripped of his delusions by utilising rigidity and subsequently misplaced the prefer to stay yet had he lived in cutting-area circumstances the case might have been diverse. the author surmises that for the duration of cutting-area circumstances Don Quixote might have lived as he chosen, a knight in an errant international of journey and can have been very content fabric.

Nora Roberts is like a mix between Sidney Sheldon and a good romance novel. Also you could try Kay Hooper and Alison Brennan. I've found they both have a good mix of mystery and romance to satisfy my boredom.

My neighbor has a web site where she reviews romance novels. Don't be turned off by the name smartbitchestrashybooks.com

I personally like John Kennedy Toole, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, T.C. Boyle, Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou.

Also, you might like Dan Savage as a weekly read (very liberal so if you are really conservative you might not like).

Good luck!

i really like Philippa Gregory, she writes historical fiction in the henry the 8th period (her book "the other boelyn girl" is a movie being released in december). They have a romantic theme to them. Amazon has a great selection and you can rate books you like and it will recommend other selections. Some chick lit books are pretty good, theyre kind of modern romances. I really like the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.
