I am some what dissapointed because a lot of what is in books are edited and cut in the film version. I just wonderd what you thought about this.

Carnage,
When a person reads a book, he or she creates their own picture of it in their minds. Mostly, movies based on books turn out to be disappointing, and those people who enjoyed the book go to see the movie are really let down. Their own imagination, the scene which they created in their minds is destroyed. This is because the director of the film makes it as he sees it.

I hate it too. Books arewritten to appeal to our imaginations film repreents reality bt often the two do not match up. I have a picture in my mind of Mr Darcy and great though they are Colin Firth and Matthew wots his name from "spooks" justcannot be the Mr Darcy I imagined. Neither can any actor no matter how talented portray the complex emotions and reactions that can be expressed by a great novelist in words, sub plots get lost, endings get altered for the sake of political correctness or box office figures and key incidents and scenes arecut even whole characters get cut, Sorry am off on a hobby horse rule is if you have read thebook don't see the film, but if you have seen the film the book may add a lot more

depnds on the book, it depends on how true the film is, some books have been ruined by the film, captain correli for one, how they ever thought that it would work having those actors in those roles i'll never know, the companies are so concerned h aving names in rather than thouse who might give something to the book
have though enjoyed hp and lord of the rings, not seen di vinci code, but loved the book and don't want to see the film after all the reviews
however i do think that it makes some read the book after they seen the film which can only be a good thing, as reading is always key

If you see the film first, it can inspire you to read the book - for example I couldn't get through D. H. Lawrence's The Rainbow until I'd seen the film. I think classics like Dickens & Jane Austen can be brought to life on the screen, but may not be an easy read. On the other hand, if you've already read & enjoyed a book, then you may be disappointed by a film adaptation - Mary Poppins for example is nothing like Julie Andrews..

i think of it very plenty relies upon on the e book and the director of the movie and no rely if there is plenty communique between the two as to the 'innovative and prescient' of the piece. If the director has a similar innovative and prescient and love of the e book because of the fact the author you may get an impressive version. verify out Shawshank Redemption, misery and eco-friendly Mile (all Steven King books, however the videos are impressive too). 1984 is a sturdy version too in my view. you're able to verify out the Disney diversifications of classic thoughts too as Disney for sure do no longer comprise each and all the gory information that are in the unique eg Brothers Grimm variety thoughts. Alot of flicks presently look to place self assurance in a presumed understanding of the books too. i found night Watch, the movie (Russian) relied heavily on the watcher having study the two night Watch and Day Watch. I hadn't as quickly as I first watched the movie and it exchange into fairly perplexing. as quickly as I study the books it made plenty extra experience... As for mind's eye vs movie, i like turning out to be characters and places in my head whilst reading, yet as quickly as you notice a movie, you very not often get your man or woman photos decrease back, they undertake the movie ones. i think of it particularly is a pity in specific circumstances. until eventually the movie exchange into poor, i've got in no way been able to regain my very own mind's eye 'photos'. it particularly is purely some examples that i will think of of on the 2d, desire it facilitates.

The results vary; i loved 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' and 'Holes' both as book and as films and felt that the films were true to the books.
'Lords of the Ring' is a wonderful book and I love the films but I don't think they were true to the book.
Disney's 'Little Mermaid' was a disgrace and ruined a tale of bravery and selflessness.

I think that adapting books is an art and that the adaptor ought to be as faithful to the original text as possible. The art is really in what to leave out and not in adding things or changing endings or character motivation.
If adaptors change everything why don't they just write a totally new script?

most movies made from books i've read change the story so much that I don't care for the movie.something is going on in the movie making business that causes that to happen.the movie that stays true to the book it is based on is the exception and not the rule.

The end result is never as good, but it's great for book sales/financial reward for the author
