I am trying to write a novel and I am at the stage of plotting. I need to know how to include a 'timeline' so that I don't get the time of action all over the place. Does anyone know if there are any good websites that can hlp with this? I've checked and have not seen anything so far.

I don't know of any websites but I recently read "Plot and Structure" By James Scott Bell. Highly recommended.

I personally use the 'sticky note' approach. Find a big wall in your house and use that to paste up every plot point. Multiples going on at once? Use multiple layers.

I've used tacks and paper before too and yes it does stay up better, but then you have to paint the wall after creating hundreds of little holes all throughout it.

depends on how much time will change within narrative. Get a flow chart and you can always re-edit the identifying traits (blonde haired assassin, being a typical recurring trick, or luggage)to link one scene to the other.

I always start at the middle, then tell the readers what happens at the end, then give them the beginning..they are usually so confused they believe it's beyond their comprehension level.
