question to star t with would be what is harry potter about because in no way is it similar to twilight. the only way the to are compared is by the franchise and amazingness that both authors managed to create.
Harry potter is a series of seven books. It is basically a series about a secret wizard world and a school called Hogwarts for witches and wizards. The books center around a boy named harry potter who became famous before he even knew how to talk. A dark wizard named Voldemort killed Harry's parents when he was three but failed in killing harry, nothing but a toddler with no wizardry powers. Harry becomes famous for defeating Voldemort when no one else was able to. Voldemort disappeared after his fail at killing harry, proclaimed gone forever, defeated. Harry grows up at his nasty non-wizard aunt and uncles place until he is eleven when he is accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. For six years in school (and the last book out of school) harry learns of himself, the truth behind what happened to his parents and the connections between him and voldemort. With the help of his friends Ron and Hermione Harry learns of the wizarding world and most of all of himself and embarks on a journey that changes his life forever.
Now, Before i read this series i thought, " evil wizards?, witchcraft and wizardry? the boy who lived? right, like i'm ever going to read THAT."
but of course i did, i had to and i loved it. Describing the series in a paragraph won't do it justice. In my opinion the books are better that the twilight series and it is completely idiotic to compare it's success with the twilight series. J.K Rowling created something that nothing, especially twilight, could ever live up to. The books are amazing and i encourage you to read them.
However, i like the twilight series better. I know that seems to contradict what i just said, but it doesn't. I like twilight for the romance. Period. The characters are awesome, i don't think i have to explain myself, especially if your a major twilight fan yourself. Nothing compares with twilight, the books are so great. I like twilight for many things and harry potter for many things. I like twilight more because it's fresher in my mind, new. But nothing will ever replace harry potter for me, the books are too amazing.
I didn't not like anything about twilight except perhaps quite a few thin in the last book, just as many things as i liked. And i don't like how twilight already seems to be dying on me. not hugely, I'm still obsessed but i'm just getting TIRED OF EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. I don't think i'll ever stop loving it but i think that to get my appreciation back i have to wait a year, no matter how much it hurts... sniffle sniffle.... to read the books for the hundredth time.
differences and alikes between harry potter and twilight? I honestly can't fins any. There's not that much romance in harry potter, none at all till the 5th book, and there's no vampires. I'm sure i could-- if i look between the lines very deeply-- find some similarities but at this moment, i can't. these books are completely DIFFERENT, appreciated by fans for DIFFERENT reasons.
oh and regarding the movies, if you decide to read harry potter after all this, i of course will tell you to read the books before the movies so you don't ruin the books. But i will tell you that they do surprisingly good job on the movies for harry potter. You can't say they match up to the books and that's why i encourage you to read FIRST! but all in all the movies are pretty good. they started me in the franchise and i became a harry potter geek, and on the inside i think i always will be.
kk i hope i was of help. I hope you decide to try harry potter and hope you like them!!!
:D
