question to star t with would be what is harry potter about because in no way is it similar to twilight. the only way the to are compared is by the franchise and amazingness that both authors managed to create.

Harry potter is a series of seven books. It is basically a series about a secret wizard world and a school called Hogwarts for witches and wizards. The books center around a boy named harry potter who became famous before he even knew how to talk. A dark wizard named Voldemort killed Harry's parents when he was three but failed in killing harry, nothing but a toddler with no wizardry powers. Harry becomes famous for defeating Voldemort when no one else was able to. Voldemort disappeared after his fail at killing harry, proclaimed gone forever, defeated. Harry grows up at his nasty non-wizard aunt and uncles place until he is eleven when he is accepted into Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. For six years in school (and the last book out of school) harry learns of himself, the truth behind what happened to his parents and the connections between him and voldemort. With the help of his friends Ron and Hermione Harry learns of the wizarding world and most of all of himself and embarks on a journey that changes his life forever.

Now, Before i read this series i thought, " evil wizards?, witchcraft and wizardry? the boy who lived? right, like i'm ever going to read THAT."

but of course i did, i had to and i loved it. Describing the series in a paragraph won't do it justice. In my opinion the books are better that the twilight series and it is completely idiotic to compare it's success with the twilight series. J.K Rowling created something that nothing, especially twilight, could ever live up to. The books are amazing and i encourage you to read them.

However, i like the twilight series better. I know that seems to contradict what i just said, but it doesn't. I like twilight for the romance. Period. The characters are awesome, i don't think i have to explain myself, especially if your a major twilight fan yourself. Nothing compares with twilight, the books are so great. I like twilight for many things and harry potter for many things. I like twilight more because it's fresher in my mind, new. But nothing will ever replace harry potter for me, the books are too amazing.

I didn't not like anything about twilight except perhaps quite a few thin in the last book, just as many things as i liked. And i don't like how twilight already seems to be dying on me. not hugely, I'm still obsessed but i'm just getting TIRED OF EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. I don't think i'll ever stop loving it but i think that to get my appreciation back i have to wait a year, no matter how much it hurts... sniffle sniffle.... to read the books for the hundredth time.

differences and alikes between harry potter and twilight? I honestly can't fins any. There's not that much romance in harry potter, none at all till the 5th book, and there's no vampires. I'm sure i could-- if i look between the lines very deeply-- find some similarities but at this moment, i can't. these books are completely DIFFERENT, appreciated by fans for DIFFERENT reasons.

oh and regarding the movies, if you decide to read harry potter after all this, i of course will tell you to read the books before the movies so you don't ruin the books. But i will tell you that they do surprisingly good job on the movies for harry potter. You can't say they match up to the books and that's why i encourage you to read FIRST! but all in all the movies are pretty good. they started me in the franchise and i became a harry potter geek, and on the inside i think i always will be.

kk i hope i was of help. I hope you decide to try harry potter and hope you like them!!!

Harry Potter and Twilight aren't really similar at all. There is one werewolf in Harry Potter, the authors have similar styles of writing, and the main characters are teenagers.

I used to really love Twilight, until EVERYBODY started reading it. It is all anybody ever talks about now. I still like it.

I dont really hate anything about harry potter.

Harry Potter is about Harry going to a school called Hogwarts for kids with magical abilities. The whole series is mainly about Harry's adventures in the magical world.

HARRY POTTER IS WAY BETTER!!!!!!

TWILIGHT:

Romance Romance, and Cheesy Romance, Love Triangles, and some action at the end of every book after DRAMA throughout every book. I get The thrill of vampire love story, but it really gets old. The onnly thing that kept me reading the books was how diferently she depicted the vampires.

The writing style is extremely repetitive, for example the kiss scene only seems like she copies and pastes their kisses every time they do after the first kiss.

Sure it keeps you interested (the first time around) then its just so anticlimactic. Everything becomes so predictable after well i don't want to spoil...but you people know what i mean!

The books are definitely better, even though the yr aren't on my tops, they are FAR better then that load of manure they decided to call that blurry re-enactment of the 1st twilight book. Movie was absolutely terrible (if you had not figured that out by now). The casting....UGH.... only reason he was chosen what because of the ridiculous Twilight VS Harry Potter craze. (and well because he appeared in the Goblet of fire and died as Cedric while as Edward he is immortal and it sort of adds a little fuel to the rivalry between these two) Bella is so plain, the bella describes in the book is beutiful and completely unaware of the fact, while the actress in the movie isn't. And while i could drag on of the rest of the cast its basically the same rant, they simply don't fit. As well i think the thing that was best casted was her truck and yet that was done pretty mediocrely. And a BIG HUGE complaint i have is Edward's house! I was absolutely apauled at it it was in no way shape of form was it anything like the one described in the book, it was just plain sad. And they also cut out the history! the story with Carlisle! it just completely butchered up. Man im ranting alot anyways and im even trying to hold backl....what else...the climbing trees the "Spider Monkey" where did hell that come from? well you get my point by now i hope.

Harry Potter:

I feel is original, better written, NOT predictable, every character is very complex and interestring. The overall plot is amazing, not boring in the least. The only - for this is the no romance for the most part until the fourth book and even so, its very minimal. Harry Potter i feel has more of a journey, and can relate to everyone of all ages. The Magic the story is so AMAZING i could re read this a million times and its stiil interesting even more so every time. I love all of the plot twists, the way things just happen. it doesnt even need any explaining if you would read it, you would know how great it it. It also shows just how much she worked to come up with this she creates an entire world, creates absolutely new things no one had ever even remotely thought of before. and its just Epic.

The movies, sure some parts are slightly diferent and they have cut out some really fun details, but they never mashed up and butchered the plot in the movies. They where great. Casting, i absolutely LOVE the casting its utterly perfect, Even to how ron just grew and well harry didnt and thats just amazing. casting, They all fit just as JK described them, the way they act and how they look their expressions its all extremely sexy....(woah im getting carried away) Anyways....the movies do cut out alot, but without loosing ,much of the essentials, point being the movies are good, They dont beat the books by a LONG shot but they dont butcher em.

I have to say, HARRY POTTER!

Well Id like to summarize harry potter for you but my hand hurts now, and well my mom wants me in bed, like now! so I hope that helps you out! READ HARRY POTTER so you can see how mediocre Twilight really is.

the harry potter series is better written. the author creates a WHOLE NEW WORLD. the characters have way more depth. and the plot makes more sence. the ending is way better and the ccharactersmake you want to cry sometimes. they are nothing alike. one is about a vampire teen love story. harry potter is about witches and wizards and fighting for your friends, loved ones and the greater good.

harry potters life revolves around the fact that he has no one for 11 years all he had was a cupboard he called a bedroom, a aunt and uncle who despised him and a fat bully of a cousin who was so spoiled he had 2 bedrooms.

the harry potter movies have brought more out of the books than twilight. the movies cost a lot more and so many people like them they have like 20 premiers WORLD-wide.

harry potter is way better than twilight because it is written way better. and if you really like to read u should open a harry potter book and fall in love with the series and characters more suspense better plot. more unique ideas. better ending no pedophiles ;].

they really are to diff. to compare. but harry potter is just better if u like long legendary stories. twilight is cool if u want a confusing sappy love story.

don't get me wrong love is like the main thing in harry potter and the lack of it. cuz when your parents are murdered in front of u when u are a baby, your only family hates you, and you have to save to worlds from distruction learning to love is your only weapon against darkness.

and hes not a loner he has a lot of friends when he gets to school. read hp u'll love it.

Differences: Twilight is about Vampires, Harry Potter is about Wizards. Twilight is Romance. Harry Potter isn't. Twilight is predictable, Harry keeps you guessing. And there's a lot of other stuff but I can't think of them.

I think the ONLY similar thing about the two is that they're both fantasy.

What I don't like about Twilight: I don't like how Stephenie Meyer drags on the chapters adding every little detail. And I don't like that they left out a bunch of stuff in the movie. And the obsessed fans.

What I don't like about Harry Potter: It's kinda confusing.

I like Twilight more, but I love Harry Potter too.

Harry is the son of two famous wizards, who were killed when he was a baby, protecting Harry, from a dark wizard. When he's 11 he finds out he's a wizard and goes to a school especially for wizards, Hogwarts. It's about his adventures with his two friends Ron and Hermine (don't think I spelled that right) at Hogwarts. I can;t explain it real well because I'm tired and I haven;t read the books or watched the movie recently.

Give Harry Potter a chance, it really is good, it may sound stupid because it's about wizards, but that's what I thought when I heard about Twilight.

Harry Potter is amazing. You never want to put the book down and its full of excellent grammar.

What is the difference(s) between Twilight and HP? Harry Potter has realistic characters and a plot line

What don't you like about Twilight? sparkly vampires and edward.

What don't you like about Harry Potter? The ending to the last book.

Which do you like more? Harry Potter

What is Harry Potter about? Harry Potter is this boy who is a wizard. His parents died saving him from you-know-who, or voldemort, and Harry was the only boy to ever survive that spell. Harry Potter is forced to live with his Uncle and Aunt and they treat him pretty bad until it is his tenth, or eleventh, birthday. Then Harry gets excepted into Hogwarts and his adventures continue from there.
2008-12-31 00:21:10 UTC
I like Twilight, buttt... HP owns.

I really can't answer these, because I don't see many similarities between them- except stupid stupid people are calling Stephenie Meyer the next JK Rowling.

Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels written by British author J. K. Rowling. The books chronicle the adventures of the eponymous adolescent wizard Harry Potter, together with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, his friends from the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The central story arc concerns Harry's struggle against the evil wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents in his quest to conquer the wizarding world and subjugate non-magical (Muggle) people to his rule.

Twilight is more of a love story. HP doesn't focus on that at all... it is more about the battle of good vs evil.

The Harry Potter movies leave alot of stuff out..but I guess if they put it all in it would be a crazy long movie LOL. My recommendation is to read the books before you see the movies.

Here is a review I found at Barnes and Nobles website

With the release of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the first in a series of tales about a young wizard in training, an international craze was born. Not since C. S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia has a children's tale of magic and mystery so enthralled the reading public. And it's easy to see why. Eleven-year-old Harry Potter, the plucky yet nerdy hero of this series, is the embodiment of every uncool kid's fantasy. Unpopular in school, picked on by bullies, and persecuted by his adoptive family, the disheveled and bespectacled Harry manages to not only survive but thrive by discovering friends, magical powers, and a great destiny he never knew he had.

Harry hates living with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and their spoiled-rotten son, Dudley. Harry's room is a tiny closet beneath the stairs, and the entire family treats him with disdain. What's more, Harry keeps getting into trouble for making strange things happen -- things he seems to have no control over. But then Harry discovers the truth about himself when a determined messenger delivers an enlightening message. It turns out that Harry's mother was a witch, his father a wizard. And not only is Harry also a wizard, he's a famous one! His survival of the attack by the evil wizard who killed his parents has marked him as a legendary hero -- as has the lightning-bolt-shaped scar on his forehead.

Soon Harry finds himself attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he receives training in some magic basics, masters riding a broomstick, and discovers his incredible talent for a game called Quidditch, which is played in the air on flying brooms. And for the first time in his life, Harry has friends who care about him: his fellow students Hermione and Ron and a giant named Hagrid. But all is not rosy when Harry discovers his true destiny and finds he must once again face the evil one who killed his parents. His survival will depend upon the help of his newfound friends, as well as his own wit and powers.

It's easy to see why Harry Potter has caught the reading public's fancy. Not only are his adventures an entertaining mix of fright, fantasy, and fun, his triumphs over everyday adversities offer a heartening lesson to kids everywhere.

I know that it sounds kind of juvenile and like it wouldn't be that great but it really is. You just get lost in the story and before you know it you've read the whole book in like 3 hours. I have NEVER read any book like HP before and nothing can even compare to it. So anyways... Happy Reading :)

My dear friends, have you ever seen a young man flying around on a broomstick holding a bit of tree called a "wand" and making spells come out of it. That is total codswallop. You see, the story Twilight is about passion and love. The story Harry Potter is about nothing but fiction. Twilight is "the bomb" as you youngen mortals would call it. It is about scenarios that occur everyday, not like Harry Potter. i bid you adue, for i have to eat some animals. Tallihoe

1. difference(s):

Harry Potter is about wizards, Twilight is about vampires. Also, there is a lot more romance in twilight. Harry Potter has more mystery in it.

2. alikes:

They both are adventurous.

3. What don't you like about Twilight? (saga and movie):

First of all, i LOVE twilight, but Jacob was in New Moon and Breaking Dawn too much. Team Edward! (only in the book though, in the movie i'm team Emmet. hahaha) And they didn't put some major scenes in the movie.

4. What don't you like about Harry Potter? (books and movies):

There is really nothing wrong with it. I used to be obsessed with HP, but Twilight replaced the obsession. Harry Potter just doesn't' seem as interesting anymore.

5. Which do you like more?:

Right now, Twilight Saga

6. What is Harry Potter about?:

That would take a while, its basically about a boy who finds out he's a famous wizard, and has to defeat Lord Voldamort. But there's a lot more to it than that, so read it! And then see the movie.

I hope that helps!!!

1) Twilight is romance+vampires+werewolves

Harry Potter is magic+wizards+mystery

2) I enjoyed reading Twilight BOOK. It's the whole series that I have problems with. As the series continues, the story gets more dull and uninteresting and the characters more annoying. The series is overated. The movie is dull and cheap and the actors can't act.

3) I think the Harry Potter books 5 & 6 are a bit too dready. The beginning of the last book was too long and dull but it got better from the middle. What I really don't like is the ending- it's too corny. And the movies are better than Twilight movies. Better directing, but some of the main casts have bad acting too.

4) I like Harry Potter more. Better writing, better plot, more colorful characters, more enjoyable.

5) It's about a wizard, Harry Potter who became popular because he was the only survivor of the Dark Lord, Lord Voldemort. Go google the summary, I'm sure you'll find lots of it. I'm not good in summarizing. I'll only make it sound worse, really.

There aren't many differences between harry potter and twilight but here's a couple...

harry potter and twilight are both set in our world and time, though there are some fantasy twists

harry potter and twilight both have werewolves and vampires (though in harry potter they are very rarely used in the book)

There are many things i don't like about twilight and many things i do like. Some things i don't like are...

The characters are drama queens, and aren't as real as the characters in HP are.

Twilight isn't very exciting, unlike HP.

Twilight doesn't have a complex plot that is hard to guess, but easy to understand as you find out, unlike harry potter.

Twilight has all those annoying stuck up fans that are constantly bragging about how twilight is better.

After reading all the twilight books, you grow out of them and all the fans and questions on the internet and stuff start to annoy you, where as harry potter sticks with you even after you've completed the series again, and again, and again....

obviously i like harry potter more lol. it is so much more exciting and you can relate to the characters easier and you get more attached.

HP is about a mistreated orphan boy who lives with his cruel and and uncle who favour their son (harry's cousin) and make harry their slave. Then, he gets a letter that informs him that he can attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. When he gets there he learns all these spells (which are derived from latin) and meets new friends and enemies, and learns a lot about his parents and how they died. They were murdered by the most powerful dark wizard of all time: Lord Voldemort. Voldemort's killing curse repelled off Harry when Voldemort tried to kill him as a baby, which shattered his power so that he was on the bridge of death. He hid for ten years, but returns when Harry goes to Hogwarts to finish the job and kill Harry, once and for all.

What is the difference(s) between Twilight and HP? (alikes too):

Differences- Harry Potter has better plots and endless imagination well writien all the way through. Twilight has Vampires ( no FANGS >:Z ). Twilight has more sexual tension. ect ect. ( there is alot )

Alikes: There both fantasy novels, Myths placed in both books.

What don't you like about Twilight? (saga and movie):

Not well written and sometimes repetative.

What don't you like about Harry Potter? (books and movies)

Needs more of Robert Pattisen :P

Which do you like more? Harry Potter

What is Harry Potter about?

Thiss guys parents died from a evil wizzerd and he was the only one left to live . The evil wizerd failed to kill him instead putting some of his powers into Harry, Harry relises the magical world and goes to hogwarts school where he meets friends and learns more speells ect. while defeating evil wizards out to kill him. Besides this harry has normal teenage schooling, sports, romance, bullys

Not tht much info but yea :)
